Giving was in the air at American Idol this week, but evidently the producers weren't up for giving the contestants as free week without eliminating an Idol hopeful.

Instead, they send Australian rocker Michael Johns packing. Carly Smithson and Saliesha Mercado joined Michael in the bottom three.

For a hot sec, I thought that they were going to let everyone stay around. Instead Ryan Seacrest just got Johns' hopes up before giving him the boot.

II was shocked to that Johns was eliminated. I thought for sure that it was Saliesha's week to go.

Michael would have made a great American Idol, but I'm sure he'll sell lots of music regardless.
